This weekend, Metrecubic participated in the SGRAIL 100 Triathlon, a major international competition. The competition had its origin in Cadaqués and its destination in Girona, transporting more than 300 bicycles with our trucks.
The participants were all of different nationalities, coming from all over Europe.
Did you know about the SGRAIL 100 Triathlon?
If you did not know the SGRAIL 100 Triathlon, you should know that it is a sporting event consisting of three stages:
- 1’5km swimming
- 88km of Gravel
- 10’5km of Trail.
During the event, the participants have to transport the bicycles from Girona to Cadaqués in a safe way, that’s why Klassmark calls us every year to transport, with the greatest security, the more than 300 bicycles of its competitors.
It is also possible for each participant to transport their bicycle by their own means, but this is not recommended due to the large number of people in Cadaqués and the lack of parking space.
SGRAIL 100 Triathlon kicks off
Once the event starts comes the first stage and, after a 1.5km swim, you have to get on the bike for 88km. For this reason, the vehicle stays in Cadaqués, which in case of being accompanied there would be no problem, but if it is not the case, your bike would stay there to go another day to pick it up, and that is not very convenient.
It is also true that Klassmark already includes the transportation of the bike in the registration fee, so not taking advantage of it would also be foolish.
Do you know how they are transported?
First of all, the bikes are structured by bib numbers so that they can be sorted in order and have control of the bib numbers. Thus, they can be downloaded in the same order and put in their exact place.
Because they are delicate bicycles, they must be transported with flexible material, but it does not have to be hard, since we must have the possibility of interlacing them to have a greater capacity inside the van, or truck, to fit as many bicycles as possible. For this reason, they are protected with cardboard and blankets so that they do not touch each other. As a result, they are not damaged and arrive in perfect condition at their destination.
What capacity fits in each vehicle?
The capacity depends a little on the vehicle itself that is used, but to have an orientation, we would be talking that a 14m3 van can cover about 27 bikes and a 40m3 truck about 90.
