Having additional space to store personal belongings, furniture or business equipment has become a common need. However, before renting or using one, it is essential to know the regulations on storage rooms<\/strong> in force in Spain. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This regulation regulates both the construction<\/strong> and use of storage rooms<\/strong> and the conditions of safety<\/strong>, ventilation<\/strong>, access<\/strong> and rental<\/strong> of these spaces. Complying with it not only avoids penalties, but also guarantees the protection of people and stored goods. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Storage room regulations<\/strong> are mainly regulated by the Technical Building Code (CTE)<\/strong> and by various municipal ordinances<\/strong>, which may vary depending on the locality. Below, we summarize the most important aspects that these spaces must meet. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ventilation and health conditions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Every storage room must have adequate ventilation<\/strong>, either natural or forced, to prevent the accumulation of moisture or gases. In the case of being in a basement, a mechanical ventilation system is required to ensure air renewal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, the regulations on storage rooms establish that they cannot be used for housing<\/strong> or resting<\/strong>, and must be kept clean and dry to prevent the proliferation of mould or pests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Building materials and fire resistance<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
